Friedl Kubelka was an Austrian artist and filmmaker born in Vienna in 1946. She attended the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where she studied painting, graphic arts, and experimental film. She later founded the School for Artistic Photography in Vienna in 1984.
Kubelka's work primarily focused on black and white photography, with a particular interest in self-portraiture and the human body. Her photographs often explore themes of femininity, sexuality, and the relationship between the body and society.
In addition to her photography, Kubelka has also worked extensively in experimental film. Her films often incorporate abstract imagery and explore the relationship between sound and image.
Kubelka has had numerous exhibitions of her work in galleries and museums around the world. She has also received several awards and honors for her contributions to the arts.
